The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 2.112 kilograms (kg) of crystal meth and 30,000 Yaba tablets from a border area at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar on Friday evening.
Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Md Iftekhar, commander of BGB-2 Teknaf battalion, said a border security force team seized the narcotics from a bag after a man left it on the bank of Naf River and escaped seeing the BGB personnel.
He said the man was trying to cross the Naf river of Teknaf upazila aiming to come closer to the Beribadh area at 6:50pm.
When attempts were made to stop him by BGB, he escaped the spot jumping into the river leaving the plastic bag, he added.
The estimated market value of seized drugs is Taka 11.46 crore, a BGB release said.
