ATU Seeks Information on Six Members of Hizb ut-Tahrir

Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police today released photos of six leaders of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir seeking information from the people to help law enforcement agencies arrest them.

They are Md Abu Zayid (age approximately 35-40), Shibli Ahmed (40-45), MD Emadul Amin (40-43), Md Faisal (22-26), Abdur Rahman (25-30) and Hafiz Al Razi 30-35), said a press release today signed by ATU superintendent (media) Aslam Khan.

It said they all are leaders of Hizb ut-Tahrir and are accused in two cases filed with Gulshan Police Station under Anti-Terrorism Act 2009 (amended-2013) on March 2, 2020 and October 19, 2020 along with two cases under Digital Security Act 2018 on charges of publicising extremist acts.

Their details were not mentioned in the release but it said soon after filing the cases they went into hiding.

ATU said the militants held a rally online at 3.30 pm on February 28, 2020 and again at 3pm on October 16, 2020.

It said the accused have been making different anti-state evil designs to create unrest in the country.

They are also carrying out publicity using cyberspace to motivate people towards extremist acts and their organisation.

It said the accused are enemies of the country and the people.

They sought information of the six accused saying their real names, addresses and other details are needed to arrest them and complete investigation of the case.
