Dhaka
Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given permission to BNP to hold a rally at Suhrawardy
Udyan on December 10.
In a
letter signed by DMP Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters and
Administration) Abdul Momen on Tuesday (November 29), this permission was
granted under 26 conditions. Later in the afternoon, on behalf of DMP, OC
Salauddin Miah of Paltan police station delivered this permission letter to the
BNP office.
In the
letter to Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, it
is said that in view of the application submitted by you (Rizvi) on November 20
regarding the permission to hold the Dhaka divisional rally, it is being
informed that if the rally is held opposite the BNP central office in
Nayapaltan, it will cause traffic jam and civil distress at that place.
Instead, Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP has given permission to hold a Dhaka
divisional rally at Suhrawardy Udyan from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm on December 10,
subject to proper observance of the following conditions.
However,
BNP has been talking about its adamant position to hold the rally in front of
the party's central office in Nayapaltan. They also applied to the DMP on
November 20 for this.
