The High Court (HC) today stayed till January 3 a lower court order that had imposed temporally ban on party activities of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman Ghulam Muhammad (GM) Quader.

A High Court division bench of Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal passed the order and issued a rule after holding hearing on a revision plea of the Quader against the lower court order.

"After this order, now there will be no legal bar in conducting the party activities by GM Quader," Advocate Sheikh Muhammad Sirajul Islam, who moved the plea before the court, told newsmen.

Earlier on November 16, the court of Dhaka First Joint District Judge Masudul Haque had passed the order, scrapping a plea of Quader, challenging an earlier order in this regard. The court also set November 30 for submitting reply in writing and holding further hearing on the matter.

Party's suspended leader and former lawmaker Ziaul Haque Mridha filed the case against Quader on October 4 and the court on October 31 had issued the initial order, asking him to refrain from party activities.
