Police have arrested six activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from different parts of Rajshahi city, on a charge of attacking the on-duty police.

Boalia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam told BSS that the police conducted an overnight raid at various locations in the city and made the arrests on Tuesday.

A case was lodged with Boalia Model Police Station Tuesday night in connection with the attack on police. OC Mazharul Islam said the names of 16 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were mentioned in the case records.

"We are determined to bring all the individuals involved in the attack on police to book as early as possible," he added.

Two police personnel were injured when the jamaat activists pelted stones on the on-duty police members in Rajshahi city on Tuesday.

The Jamaat-e-Islami activists brought out a sudden procession in the Kadirganj area that day. On information, police rushed to the area quickly.

Sensing the presence of police, the jamaat activists pelted brickbats, leaving two police personnel injured. The activists later fled the spot.
