Police detained 16 Rohingyas, including women and children, from Sreemangal Sunday as they were on their way to Moulvibazar from Cox’s Bazar refugee camp, reports UNB.
They were detained during a drive at an Ena Paribahan bus from Cox’s Bazar, said Sreemangal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Hossain Sardar.
An inspector of district police travelling on the same bus suspected some passengers being Rohingyas and informed the matter to the police station, he said.
In primary questioning, the detainees said they had fled from the Rohingya camp at Kutupalong, said OC Jahangir.
They will be sent back to their camp, he added.
