Woman Gives Birth a Baby Boy in Metro Rail Station

A female passenger named Sonia Rani Roy gave birth to a boy at the Agargaon station of Metro Rail. This woman gave birth at the first aid center when labor pains suddenly started.  

She was travelling to Agargaon from Uttara via metro rail along with her husband Sukanto Saha, started having labour pains while the couple was still on the train.

Upon reaching at the Agargaon station, scout members and DMTCL staffers took Sonia to the station's First Aid Room. There, with the help of scout members and a lady doctor, Sonia gave birth to a baby boy.

The incident took place at Agargaon station at 9 am on Thursday.

Sukant Saha said, my wife had to undergo regular check-ups with the doctor as she was pregnant. Today I was taking him from home to be admitted to the hospital but on the way, her labor pains starts on the metro rail. Both mother and son are healthy. Now they have been admitted to a hospital.  

He also said, "I cannot express my gratitude enough. Everyone cooperates soon after the labour pain started."

Sukant Saha, the father of the newborn said that the metro rail authorities arranged an ambulance for me.

Salma Akhi, another passenger who witnessed the metro rail at that time, said that a woman was shouting on the metro rail. Hearing the screams, I came forward and saw that her labor pains had started. She also said, after that, arrangements were made for her delivery with the help of the authorities. There were no complications due to normal delivery. Both mother and child are healthy.  

Incidentally, passenger movement on metro rail started the day after the inauguration by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on December 28. Since then it is running only between Agargaon to Uttara Diabari stations. Not stopping at any intermediate station.
