Gopibagh Garage Fire Under Control

A fire broke out in a rickshaw garage in the capital's Motijheel Wednesday night and was brought under control after almost an hour, the authorities said.

The orange glow of the fire seeping through thick smoke could be seen from far away. Fortunately, no casualties were reported till the filing of this report.

The blaze began around 11pm behind Madhumita Cinema Hall, Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell, said.

"On information, six firefighting units of the fire department responded to the blaze. The garage was ablaze when the responders arrived," he added.

He also said, the response team contrived to douse the flames around 11:55pm. However, he couldn’t determine the source of the fire or the extent of the damage.
