Gulistan Blast: DB Arrests 3, Including 2 Building Owners

Detectives today arrested three people, including the two owners of the building in Dhaka's Siddikbazar area where a deadly blast on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of 21 people.

They are- building owner Wahidur Rahman, 46, and Matiur Rahman, 36, and shop owner Motaleb Mintu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP KN Roy Niyoti told the media. 

Wahidur and Matiur are brothers, the ADC said.

The police officials said the two brothers were arrested as the building was built without following the relevant laws and rules.

Besides, they erected shops in the basement, instead of keeping open space for parking.

They were negligent in in servicing air-conditioners and cleaning septic tanks.

Besides, Motaleb used to run his sanitary shop at the building occupying open space, Niyoti said.
