8 Houses Gutted in Fire in Barishal

Eight houses were gutted in a fire which broke out in Natunbazar Old Cremation Grounds of Barishal town early today, reports UNB.

No casualties were reported.

Belal Uddin, deputy-director of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Barishal, said the fire broke out from the kitchen of one Nirod Baroi’s house and engulfed the adjacent seven houses around 5:30 am.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one hour.

Valuables of eight houses were gutted in the fire as all were asleep when the fire broke out.

Besides, the fire also partially damaged 30-40 houses in the area.
