School Teacher Hit by Train Dies in Gopalganj

A high school teacher died after being hit by a train in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj this morning, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Badal Biswas, 43, son of Neel Ratan Biswas of Dalniya village under the Sadar upazila. He was a mathematics teacher of Guadhana Silna Bindu Bashini High School at the upazila, reports UNB.

Md Maridul, sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, said the incident happened around 7 am when a Rajshahi-bound train hit the motorbike of the teacher while crossing a rail track in Naldanga area, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, the body was recovered from the spot and sent to Gopalganj General Hospital for autopsy, he said.

The accident occurred on his way to school from home in the morning, the SI said, adding that the body will be handed over after the autopsy.
