Two Leaders of Juba League, BCL Shot Dead in Lakshmipur

Two leaders of Juba League and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have been shot to death by miscreants in Lakshmipur sadar upazila.

The incident took place around 9.45pm on Tuesday in Poddar Bazar area under Bashikpur union.

The deceased are Abdullah Al Noman, a former general secretary of the district unit of Juba League and son of late Abul Kashem, and Rakib Imam, an organising secretary of the district unit of BCL, son of Rafik Ullah and an entrepreneur of UP digital center.

According to locals and police, a group of miscreants opened fire on the duo in the Poddar Bazar area, leaving them critically injured. They were rushed to the Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital where physicians declared Noman dead upon arrival. Rakib was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after giving first aid but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to DMCH. The duo sustained bullet injuries in their heads and mouths.

Families of the deceased alleged that members of Abul Kashem Jehadi’s group committed the killing to establish their supremacy in the area.
