EC Instructs Removal of Campaign Material from Five Cities

The Election Commission (EC) has instructed the removal of all campaign material from election areas in five city corporations. A letter in this regard has already been sent to the concerned.

According to EC sources, elections will be held in Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) on May 25, Khulna (KCC) and Barishal (BCC) City Corporation on June 12, and Rajshahi (RCC) and Sylhet (SCC) City Corporation on June 21. 

The EC has decided to remove the posters, banners, wall-writing, billboards, gates, archways, pandals and lighting, etc. of the potential candidates of these five city corporations and election camps. 

For this, the concerned persons have been instructed to remove the election campaign materials at their own expense by contacting the various local government institutions including the City Corporation before the last date of the submission of nomination papers.

According to the EC, various local government institutions, including the City Corporation, have been requested to issue instructions to implement the activities related to the removal of the above campaigning materials at the scheduled time.

The EC schedule states that the deadline for filing nomination papers for GCC polls is April 27. And the selection will be on April 30. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 8 and voting will be held on May 25. 

In KCC and BCC polls, the deadline for filing nomination papers is May 16, the selection is May 18, the withdrawal deadline is May 25, and voting is on June 12. 

Besides, the deadline for submission of nomination papers for RCC and SCC elections is May 23. Nomination papers will be selected in these two cities on May 25. And June 1 is the last date for the withdrawal of nomination papers.
