'Bangladeshis in Sudan Urged to Get Enlisted As Evac Starts Soon'

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam on Sunday urged the Bangladesh nationals to get registered with Bangladesh Embassy in Sudan as the evacuation will begin within a couple of days.

He said there are 1500 Bangladesh nationals in Sudan, and so far, 700 of them have registered with Bangladesh Embassy in Sudan.

The state minister briefed media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the current situation in Sudan and evacuation of the Bangladesh citizens.

Around 35 Bangladesh nationals safely left Sudan so far, he said.

"On May 2, we hope to bring all 700 Bangladesh nationals who are already registered," he said, adding that there are arrangements.

Before the meeting, he had a coordination meeting at the Ministry with the relevant senior officials.

The Bangladeshis will first move to Jeddah Port from Port Sudan, and their return to Bangladesh depends on quick return to Jeddah.
