Youth Arrested in Madaripur Over Rape of 5th Grader

A young man was arrested for allegedly raping a fifth grader in Sadar upazila of Madaripur district on Monday.

The arrestee is Babu Sardar, 20, of Ghatmazhi area of the upazila, reports UNB.

"We found primary evidence that the girl was raped, and she was admitted to the Madaripur Sadar Hospital in critical condition," said Masud Alam Khan, superintendent of Madaripur police.

According to the family members, Babu Sardar and his associates waited outside the victim's house on Friday night.

When she came out to use the bathroom, they took the girl to an isolated place at gunpoint, where Babu raped her. At one point, when the girl fell ill, Babu's associates dropped her home, they said.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed a case with Sadar police station, accusing Babu Sardar and three others in connection with the rape.

The others accused are Shaheen Moral, 35, of the same area; Rashed Matobbar, 35; and Zia Chowkidar, 27. Police arrested Babu and sent him to court on Monday afternoon.
