After nearly five hours, the temporary workers employed by Bangladesh Railway lifted their roadblock, allowing the capital's rail connection with the rest of the nation to continue.

Trains to and from Dhaka started running at 2:55pm, Khairul Kabir, BR's divisional transport officer (Dhaka division), told.

The workers blocked the tracks in Karwan Bazar around 10:00am today, causing suspension of Dhaka's rail communication with the rest of the country.

They withdrew the blockade around 2:30pm, and are now marching to the Rail Bhaban to press home their demands, our photographer reports from the spot.

The demands include being made permanent employees, and that BR stop outsourcing jobs.
