College Student Stabbed Dead in Dhanmondi

A college student was fatally stabbed in the Dhanmondi neighborhood of Dhaka, allegedly by muggers.

Adnan Saeed Rakib, 18, a second-year student at Ideal College in the capital, has been named as the deceased.

According to SI Md Alamgir of the Dhanmondi police station, the incident was reported on Sunday at around 10 p.m. in the vicinity of the Sheikh Jamal Club's field.

He claimed that when Rakib and one of his pals went to have tea close to the field, four or five muggers tried to steal their phones. 

The thieves stabbed Rakib when he resisted their demands for his phone. After being transported to Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, he was later pronounced dead by medical staff at around 12 a.m., the SI stated.

The hospital morgue has received the body for an autopsy.
