Dhaka-17 By-polls: Hero Alom Attacked, Brutally Assaulted at Banani

Hero Alom, an independent candidate in the ongoing Dhaka-17 by-elections, was brutally attacked at a polling place in Banani at around 3:20 PM today.

Our photographer at the scene reports that he was at the Banani Bidyaniketan School and College's polling place when the incident took place.

Hero Alom took some pictures with fans on the school's playground before going inside, but afterward, some people approached him and told him that the area wasn't appropriate for filming TikTok videos. After he had entered the building's hallway, they began to physically assault him and even dragged him outside. 

Police escorted him away as they chased after him and struck him. He was then brutally attacked by a mob of individuals on the sidewalk in front of the polling place. 

He was finally able to get away on a car around 3:30pm.
