DU VC Didn’t Get Canadian Visa

As Canadian embassy rejects him to provide a visa, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman of Dhaka University could not to travel to Canada. 

On June 15, he sought for a visa at the Canadian High Commission in Dhaka to take a course at York University. But a month later, the VC didn't get the visa. He had to abandon his intentions to travel to Canada as a result.

According to Akhtaruzzaman, the lengthy processing of visas is a result of late applications. Because he couldn't make the program, he decided to postpone his trip to Canada. He informed Mankind that some cunning individuals were attempting to advertise it differently. Obtaining a visa frequently takes two to three months.

Today, July 19, is the Commonwealth Universities Symposium-2023. The VC, however, is unable to attend the symposium because he was denied a visa despite applying for it a month ago.

Last Monday, he was scheduled to go for Canada.

The day-long symposium was attended by vice chancellors, deputy vice chancellors, pro-vice chancellors, and higher education specialists from various Commonwealth universities, according to ACU's website. Only those attendees who are physically present at the conference will be able to attend. Online membership is not open to anyone. 

In addition, the participants attending the symposium will be responsible for covering all lodging costs, including air travel. The seminar will begin at 9:00 am and run through 6:30 pm. ACU's membership includes more than 500 universities from 50 Commonwealth nations.

Note that DU VC Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman did not get a Canadian visa at a time when the United States announced a visa policy on Bangladesh. Canada is an ally of the United States. Canada is assumed to follow US visa policies. However, Canada does not announce visa policies like the United States.
