Despite improving five points in the Henley Passport Index 2023, the Bangladeshi passport is still ranked as the tenth weakest in the world.

The most current quarterly edition of the index, which was released on Tuesday, had the nation rated 96th out of 103.

The ranking is based on the number of nations that passport holders can travel without a prior visa.

The most recent edition of the list shows that holders of Bangladeshi passports can enter 40 nations either without a visa or with one obtained upon arrival.

Previously, Bangladesh was rated 101st in the index that was released on January 10 along with Kosovo and Libya.

In 2022, Bangladesh had the 104th spot.

For five years running, Japan has the strongest passports according to the rating. Singapore has now surpassed Japan to take the top spot, though. This nation's passport holders are eligible for visa-free travel to 192 other nations.

Japan, on the other hand, fell to third place.

At the moment, Japanese nationals do not need a visa to enter 189 nations.

Pakistan, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan grabbed the positions from 100th to 104th, respectively.
