Transport Leader Held over Hero Alom Assault

In connection with the assault on Ashraful Alom, also known as Hero Alom, the independent candidate for the Dhaka-17 by-election, police have detained a guy.

According to Sub-inspector Nur Uddin of the Banani Police Station, Talukder Masud, president of the Karwanbazar Pick-up Owners Association, was detained on Thursday afternoon.

"So far, we have arrested 10 people in connection with the incident. Efforts are on to nab the rest through video footage," he added.

A physical attack against Hero Alom occurred in the Banani neighborhood of Dhaka just before the Monday election's conclusion.

Later, he said that members of the ruling party attacked him in the afternoon at the Banani Bidyaniketan School and College polling place "with the intention of murder."
