2 Killed in Fire Engine Accident in Narayanganj

A crew of firemen was their route to extinguish a fire at a clothing business in Fatullah this morning when an accident occurred, killing the driver of the Fire Service and Civil Defense vehicle and a pedestrian.

Jahangir Hossain, 50, a driver at the Hajiganj Fire Station, was one of the fatalities, according to station officer Obaidul Islam.

A pedestrian was also killed in the collision, according to Hafizur Rahman, a sub-inspector at Narayanganj Sadar Police Station. The pedestrian was not readily identifiable. 

Around 10:45 am, the driver of the car lost control and crashed into pedestrians, a bus, and a rickshaw in Narayanganj's Chashara neighborhood, according to officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station Anichur Rahman Mollah.

He said that in addition to being struck by the fire truck, the bus also slammed another car.

Around 10:30 am, a fire started at Fakir Apparels Ltd in Fatullah.

Around 11:30am, ten fire fighting units put out the fire, according to Lima Khanam, the duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control center.
