After an almost eight-month hiatus, train traffic on the Dhaka-Narayanganj rail link is scheduled to restart on August 1.

Following a Tuesday morning visit to the construction sites of the Padma Bridge rail connection project and the Dhaka-Narayanganj dual gauge double railway line, Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujan made this statement to media at the Chashara railway station.

He said that certain delays in the dual gauge line's development were brought on by collaboration with the Padma Bridge rail connection project.

The dual gauge single line is now being converted to a double line one, according to the minister, in order to speed up the total project. To guarantee quick development, the work on both projects is being done simultaneously.

He anticipated that the dual gauge double line project would be finished by June of the following year as planned.

The railway minister further stated that the Padma Bridge rail line will be finished by 2024.

He stated that the first week of September is anticipated to see the start of a trial run of train service between Kamalapur and Bhanga, followed by the Prime Minister's formal inauguration.

The Minister also disclosed plans for significant projects from Khulna to Mongla and from Dohazari in Chattogram to Cox's Bazar in addition to the Dhaka-Narayanganj route and the Padma Bridge project.

The Dhaka-Narayanganj train service would be suspended for three months beginning on December 4 as a result of construction on the Padma Bridge rail line project across Narayanganj, Bangladesh Railway stated last year.
