On Wednesday, the government of the Republic of Korea declared its intention to donate $3 million USD in 2023 to aid Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The UNHCR, IOM, WFP, and UNICEF will be among the foreign agencies operating in Bangladesh this year, according to the Korean Embassy in Dhaka.

In close collaboration with the government of Bangladesh and international organizations, the government of the Republic of Korea has continued to donate 3 to 5 million US dollars yearly to the Rohingyas and their host communities in Bangladesh since 2017.

South and Southeast Asian nations must cooperate economically, the PM urges the departing Korean ambassador.

Over the past six years, South Korea's cash has been utilized for a variety of humanitarian initiatives, including the Joint Response Plan's (JRP) provision of LPG, education, and food.

The embassy stated that the government of the Republic of Korea supports discussions about the repatriation of refugees between the governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar as well as the safe, voluntary, dignified, and long-term return of Rohingya refugees to their villages.
