Woman killed by ‘drug addict’ son in Mymensingh

A 55-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her "drug addict" son for refusing to give him money at Kharuali village in Bhaluka upazila under Mymensingh district on Wednesday (26 July) night.

The deceased was identified as Rupina Begum, wife of Shahabuddin Sahu of the village.

The locals said to officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, that  accused Jony Mia (22), "a drug addict," used to harass his mother Rupina for money off and on.

On Wednesday night, he sought money from his mother. When Rupina refused, Jony "stabbed her with a sharp weapon," leaving her injured. Later, she died on the way to a local hospital.

Meanwhile the police recovered the body but could not arrest Jony yet as he fled away after the incident.
