PM to Inaugurate 50 Model Mosques Today

Fifty more model mosques and Islamic cultural centers are being planned for launching around the country.

The mosques and Islamic cultural institutions are expected to be formally opened by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (Sunday), according to a spokeswoman of the Religious Affairs Ministry.

He said that in the fifth phase, at around 10 a.m., the Prime Minister will essentially inaugurate the 50 model mosques from her official residence Ganabhaban.

In an attempt to share the true meaning of Islam with people and in honor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has suggested establishing 564 model mosques around the country.

The air conditioning system and separate areas for ablution and namaj are features of model mosques and Islamic cultural centers.

Along with the mosques, there will also be accommodations for local and foreign visitors, a conference room for Islamic cultural activities and Islamic dawat, an Islamic book sale center, an autism corner, a pre-primary education and Quran learning arrangement, a hifzakhana, a research center and Islamic library, a center for Imam training, and a ritual system before burial.
