Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the minister of home affairs, stated that the government will not be involved in the national elections.

"We let the EMF delegation know that the Election Commission was going to be very important in the election. Following a Sunday meeting at the Secretariat with members of the Election Monitoring Forum (EMF), he said that the Election Commission will supervise all elections.

He remarked that observers from abroad wanted to know how our preparations were going. Whether or not our law enforcement, military, and other groups are ready for the election.

The home minister added as some parties are boycotting the elections and are constantly involved in various types of political activities, the EMF wanted to know if the government will be able to hold the polls. “We have provided them with details regarding the matter.”

Asaduzzaman Khan said the EMF also wanted to know if Bangladesh had enough police force for the election time. “We have stated that we have an auxiliary disciplined force along with our police force, that guided elections in the past. Along with the police force, Border Guard Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Coast Guard are all ready. We are ready to ensure that the elections are peaceful, free and free of violence.”

The Election Commission would be able to hold fair elections under the rule of the ruling party, the EMF stated earlier in the day.

Terry L. Islay, a US citizen and part of the EMF group, made the remark during a Sunday discussion with the Election Commission.

The international delegation is scheduled to meet with a number of ministries.
