The deadline for presenting the investigation report in a case related to the 2012 slayings of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi was extended by a Dhaka court today to September 11.

The deadline for submissions has been postponed 100 times.

According to court sources, Rab Additional Superintendent of Police Khondoker Md Shafiqul Alam, who is also the investigating officer in the case, failed to submit the report today, prompting Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam to issue the order.

The same court requested Rab to produce the investigation report by today on June 22 of this year.

Two different courts had already voiced their displeasure with the investigation's findings and the detectives' inability to identify the murderers' true motivations and apprehend them.

In the wee hours of February 11, 2012, Sagar, a news editor for a private TV network called Maasranga, and his wife Runi, a top reporter at ATN Bangla, were found dead in a leased apartment in the West Razabazar neighborhood of the city.

Home at the time was their only child, Mahir Sarowar Megh, who was 5 years old. The following day, Nousher Ali Roman, Runi's brother, reported the incident to Sher-e-Bangla Police Station.
