Two US Congressmen plans to visit Dhaka

Two US Congressmen are coming to visit Bangladesh this time. Including Besides visiting the Rohingya camps, they will also hold meetings with political parties. Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen confirmed regarding the visit of these two Congressmen. 

The foreign minister said that the US government is sending them. They are coming to see whether the donations what provided by the United States for the Rohingya issue is being used properly. The United States is one of the largest donors of Rohingya funding. And these congressmen are included on these funding committees. So they will see how their financial aid is being used.

Meanwhile the two congressmen are coming on a four-day visit on August 12. One incumbent is a Democrat, the other a Republican. They will be accompanied by supporting officers.

On August 13, the Congressmen's officials will meet with the Refugee Relief and Repatriation (RRRC), the United Nations' related agencies, in the Rohingya camp. The next day, the two congressmen will meet with the RRRC and related organizations of the United Nations.

After that they will come to Dhaka and meet the Foreign Minister.

They are scheduled to meet with Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party among the political parties during this visit. However, their meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami is not finalized yet.

A State Department official said on condition of anonymity that one of the two congressmen is Republican Congressman Rick McCormick of Georgia and the other is Democratic Congressman Ed Keyes of Hawaii.

Brian Schiller, the spokesperson of the US Embassy in Dhaka, also ensure of their visit, But more than there is no confirmation or denial of information about the plan of this visit published. He advised to contact the office of the congressmen to confirm the information in this regard.
