Government's new rules to half-mast the national flag

The government has been declared new rules for lowering the national flag at half-mast. Yesterday Wednesday (August 9) a notification was being issued by the Cabinet Department amending the flag rules.

In the notice it’s being mentioned that where the flag should be placed on the flagpole and the flag should be flown at half-mast was not specified in the rules.

According to the new rules, the flag should be tied at half length from the top of the flag pole.

According to the revised rules, the flag must first be hoisted to the highest point of the flagpole while keeping the flag at half-mast. The flag should then be lowered to one-fourth of the length of the flagpole. When lowering the flag, the flag should be raised to the top of the pole and then lowered.

The national flag is flown at half-mast on national days of mourning including International Mother Language Day and 15 August National Day of Mourning.
