Vehicular movement on Ctg-Cox's Bazar Highway resumes

Due to critical flood situation of Chittagong division including hill tracts area all of the transport communication was being stopped. But since today vehicular movement on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway resumed after remaining off for two days due to incessant rain and landslides.However, road connectivity with Bandarban is still cut off.  Officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said traffic movement on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway resumed this morning as water receded.

“There are some places that are still under water and if there is no rain, water accumulated there will also recede soon,” he said.

At this time Satkania, Chandanaish and Lohagara upazilas of Chattogram have been submerged due to continuous rain and onrush of water from the hills over the last one week. 

Earleir due to incessant rain, the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway was submerged in waist-deep water from Barapara Koshaipara of Hashimpur union of Chandanaish to Keranihat in Satkania.

The water level on the road from Chandanaish College Gate area to Keranihat section started rising, leading to heavy traffic congestion on the highway on Monday night.

Later, traffic was virtually stopped after 3 am, causing inconvenience to passengers, including the elderly and children.

For the last two days, some vehicles were using the alternative road through Banshkhali to travel between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

Vehicular movement has returned to normal from this morning after the water receded as there was no heavy rain since yesterday.
