The flood situation in Bandarban, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and Rangamati has improved considerably since Thursday due to a sharp decrease in rainfall.

However, the hardship of those who live in flood-affected areas is getting worse.

The worst-affected upazilas in Chittagong, Chandanaish, Lohagara, and Satkania, have severely devastated croplands. On the roads there, there is a path of devastation.

From Monday night, these areas were essentially under water for three days. For three days, the electricity was turned off. The Chittagong-Cox's Bazar motorway was shut down because it became impassable due to days of rain.

Although the roadway was once again open for travel on Thursday morning, many communities still without electricity, according to officials.

Over the last week, no less than 16 individuals have died and three are still missing throughout the district.

According to the District Relief and Rehabilitation Office, as of Thursday, a total loss of Tk135.15 crore has been incurred by homes, crops, and enterprises.

Satkania, Lohagara, and Chandanaish upazilas have been without electricity for three days among the flood-affected localities. There were several issues that the locals had to deal with, including a lack of clean water.

But as of Wednesday night, the water level in these locations has begun to drop and electricity has begun to come back in certain spots.

According to Dilip Chandra Chowdhury, senior manager of Chittagong Palli Bidyut Samity 1, all upazilas in the south have had their electrical connections restored thus far, with Satkania being the exception. Additionally, work is being done in Satkania, where we anticipate soon-coming power restoration.

6,753 individuals have been evacuated to shelter houses, while 635,000 people have been marooned in the area, according to district administration sources.

The Patenga Met office reports that 664mm of rain fell in Chittagong during the course of the previous seven days. Of them, 42.8mm on August 4, 64.2mm on August 5, 231.5mm on August 6, and 216.4mm on August 7 saw rainfall totals.

On Friday, the main rivers in Bandarban, including the Sangu and the Matamuhuri, were running below the danger threshold.

People have begun relocating from shelters to their destroyed houses. The city's power supply was largely restored on Thursday afternoon, and it was anticipated that more sections will have regular power by last night.

After being disrupted for five days by flash floods and landslides, road connectivity between Bandarban Sadar upazila and the rest of the nation was restored on Friday.

As of Thursday, there has been at least 14 fatalities as a result of recent floods and landslides in Bandarban and Rangamati.

People in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya and Pekua upazilas are having difficulty with their damaged dwellings. Their problems are made worse by a lack of drinkable water.

In Rangamati, the scarcity of potable water deepened. Crops on hundreds of hectares of land and fish of hundreds of ponds have been washed.
