10 Held from Moulvibazar ‘Militant Hideout’

Ten persons were detained today from a "militant hideout" in the isolated mountainous region of Kulaura in Moulvibazar by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, four of them were males and six of whom were women.

Mohammad Asaduzzaman, the head of the specialized unit, revealed to the media after the operation that they were also carrying three children.

"We learned that a new extremist organization had radicalized a significant number of people. Those folks have departed for hizrat from their homes. We first learned that they had established a hideaway on one of Moulvibazar's hills. We received the last update yesterday, he stated.

Asaduzzaman stated, "We earlier detained a man in Dhaka while he was preparing to transfer his family there.

He stated that during today's operation, they also searched the "militant hideout" and found about 3 kg of explosives and 50 detonators.

In addition to Tk 3.61 lakh, he added, "training aids, combat boots, boxing bags, and numerous sacks of jihadi literature have been taken."

In response to a query, he stated, "This is a new organization called 'Imam Mahmuder Kafela'. It is not on Bangladesh's list of terrorist groups that are prohibited from operating. The name of the organization's major figure is also known to us. We shall carry on traveling.
