Due to the heavy rains and upstream water, the Teesta river is running above the danger threshold in the Lalmonirhat area on Monday.

The river flow was measured at 52.35 meters at 6 am on Monday at Teesta Barrage Dalia Point under Hatibandha upazila in the district, which is running 20 cm over the danger limit (typical 52.15 meters). This is the country's largest irrigation project.

According to the barrage authority, the upstream surge has boosted the water flow at Dalia Point as a result of the enhanced Teesta water flow in India's Ghazaldoba.

People who live near the river said that low-lying regions on the river's left bank had been inundated as a result of increasing water. Low-lying areas' crop fields are flooded. Numerous households have been affected by waterlogging. Communication has already been cut down in the Char region.

Teesta Barrage, Water Development Board (BWDB) Asfa-ud-Daula, executive engineer for the Dalia Branch, stated: "Rain and upstream water have boosted the Teesta's flow. To regulate the flow of water, the Teesta Barrage's sluice gates have all been opened.
