The days before Monday's National Mourning Day have not been marked by any allegations of sabotage or subversive action, according to Khandker Golam Faruq, commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

However, while bearing the issue in mind, law enforcement officials are on high alert. He said at a press conference in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, that the greatest level of security has been put in place to prevent any kind of sabotage.

He projected that because of the upcoming presidential election, there will be a bigger turnout on Monday, August 15.

According to him, everyone will pay tribute to the victims of the August 15 atrocity when the president and prime minister do so in the morning.

Considering this, a two-tier security will be implemented, he added.

Regarding militant attacks, Khandker Golam Faruq said militants have not been completely eradicated in the country.

“A few days ago, a new militant organization was found in Sylhet. Considering this, there is no possibility of any terrorist attack, but strict security has been taken,” he added.
