On this National Mourning Day and the 48th anniversary of his martyrdom, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a heartfelt ode to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the nation's founder.

The prime minister honored the man who helped bring about the nation's independence as part of the state program by laying a wreath at the statue of Bangabandhu in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the capital.

She sat in sombre silence for a while after laying the wreath to express her deep admiration for the great leader.

At that moment, a state salute was given by a finely dressed unit of the Bangladeshi armed forces while the bugle sounded a gloomy and mournful song to the final post.

Additionally, a munajat was made in an effort to bring the martyrs of the August 15 massacre eternal peace for their departed souls.

Later, Sheikh Hasina, the AL President, laid a wreath at Bangabandhu's image while being surrounded by prominent AL officials and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.

The Speaker of the House, the Chief Justice, members of the government, and the heads of the army, navy, and air forces were among those present.

The premier left Dhanmondi and went to the Banani Graveyard, where other martyrs from August 15, 1975, including her mother Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, brothers Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal, and Sheikh Russell, were also buried.

On their graves, she scattered flower petals and laid wreaths.

Sheikh Hasina also offered Fateha and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs of August 15.

The day is being observed across the country as National Mourning Day.
