While it is running above the danger threshold in Kurigram this morning, the Teesta river's water level has dropped in Lalmonirhat.

At 9:00 am, the Teesta River was running 37 cm above the danger level at the Kaunia Teesta Bridge site, flooding 25 villages and chars in five unions in the Kurigram upazilas of Rajarhat, Ulipur, and Chilmari.

Houses in low-lying chars and along the river banks have been flooded. Water has also flooded roads and rice fields in Aman.

According to Abdullah Al Mamun, executive engineer of the Kurigram Water Development Board, the Teesa rose in Kurigram as a result of the onslaught of mountainous water.

He hoped that within the following 24 hours, it will decrease below the danger threshold in Kurigram.

Additionally, he stated, the flow of the Brahmaputra, Dharla, Dudhkumar, and Gangadhar rivers in Kurigram is below the danger limit.

The Teesta water is currently below the danger level at Dalia Point in the Teesta Barrage region of Hatibandha Upazila, according to WDB Executive Engineer of Lalmonirhat Shunil Kumar.

Downstream of the barrage, the water, however, has reached a dangerous level. India's upstream has currently ceased supplying water. He stated that there is now no danger of a significant flood situation in Teesta Shoal.

More than 2,000 households were affected by the flooding in six riverbank villages and chars of Abdul Quddus' union, Gharialdanga Union, in Rajarhat upazila.

Farmer Nazar Ali, 67, of the Rajarhat upazila's Ghatiashyam hamlet, said that this morning, his family and their animals had to seek refuge on the WDB dike because river water had invaded their home. He said that one of his eight bighas of land, a man paddy, was submerged.
