On the fringes of the BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are scheduled to meet in Johannesburg, South Africa. This week, the two South Asian presidents are visiting the African nation.

On the invitation of Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, they will go to Johannesburg, South Africa, from August 22 to August 24 in order to attend the 15th BRICS Summit.

Without giving names, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that Indian Prime Minister Modi will meet privately with some of the leaders present in Johannesburg during his visit.

The G20 Summit in India in September will also be attended by Prime Minister Hasina.

The 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit, which will take place in New Delhi on September 9–10, will be the culmination of all G20 procedures and gatherings of ministers, senior officials, and civil society throughout the year.

At the end of the New Delhi Summit, a G20 Leaders' Declaration will be adopted, outlining the commitment of the leaders to the priorities discussed and chosen during the corresponding ministerial and working group sessions.

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen had recently told reporters that New Delhi would be a preferable location than Johannesburg for a private meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi. In relation to the conference, the two nations are already in contact.

Momen also said that Africa is a “rising star”, and Bangladesh wants to make stronger connections with countries in the continent.

“Our relations with African countries are not that strong. We have opened two missions there. The prime minister will give them instructions (to make greater efforts),” he remarked.

After 2019, this will mark the return of the BRICS Summit in person. The summit will provide participants the chance to assess the status of the group's projects and choose potential new areas of focus.

In addition, Prime Minister Modi will take part in a special gathering called "BRICS - Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue" that will be held following the BRICS Summit and feature other nations that South Africa has invited.
