Regent Group’s Chairman Shahed Sentenced to Jail for 3 Years

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched a complaint against Md. Shahed, alias Shahed Karim, the chairman of the Regent Group, and he was found guilty, and he was sentenced to three years in prison.

Judge Prodip Kumar Roy of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-7 delivered the verdict on Monday following the end of the defense and prosecution's legal arguments on August 10.

The anti-graft agency filed a lawsuit against Shahed for accumulating Tk 1.69 crore in illegitimate riches on March 1, 2021.

Later, a court framed charges against the lone accused on April 17, 2022.

A total of 10 witnesses testified in the case on different hearing dates.
