In Narsingdi's Shibpur upazila, a head-on collision between a sand-filled truck and a microbus left at least seven people dead and four injured, according to the police.
The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. on Friday in the Itakhola area of the upazila, according to Inspector Md. Kabir Hossain.
According to Kabir, a microbus bound towards Sylhet and a truck hauling sand were moving in opposite directions when they collided head-on on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
Five people were killed on the spot as a result of the clashes. Later, one person died while being taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and another died after being admitted to the hospital.
The injured were initially taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment, said Inspector Kabir.
