The country will get up to £54.5 million in financing over an eight-year period, according to Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, to improve educational outcomes for kids, with a focus on girls.

We are delighted to welcome the LEEDO cricket team, who will represent Bangladesh on the international scene, today. I truly believe that physical exercise plays a crucial role in a child's education. She said, "I'm hoping they perform well in the competition.

According to the High Commissioner, providing every child with a quality education for 12 years is a crucial part of the UK's efforts to combat poverty, improve gender equality, promote economic growth, and reduce violence.

The cricket squad that will soon represent Bangladesh in the Street Child Cricket World Cup in Chennai was given a send-off on Wednesday by British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke.

The squad is made up of young people who now reside at the LEEDO Peace Home in Dhaka after being saved from a life on the streets.

The non-profit, volunteer-based LEEDO (Local Education and Economic Development Organization) was established in 2000. LEEDO seeks to safeguard vulnerable street children and assist them in reintegrating into society by offering education, shelters, and lifestyle assistance.

During the event, the young guests shared their experience on the street, and appealed to guests to help improve the life chances of other less fortunate children, said the British High Commission in Dhaka.

The children were thrilled to meet star cricketer Tamim Iqbal, who attended the event to encourage the young cricketers. They showed off their cricketing skills to Tamim Iqbal and the British High Commissioner.

Forhad Hossain, Executive Director of LEEDO said they are incredibly proud of the journey these remarkable children have undertaken, from the challenging streets to becoming skilled cricketers representing Bangladesh on an international platform.

He said that their participation in the Street Child Cricket World Cup is evidence of both their tenacity and the transformational power of encouragement and instruction.

"We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, for arranging the event that served as motivation for the team's upcoming voyage. The motivation from the esteemed visitors and sponsors will give them more courage to speak out internationally to protect the identity and access of Bangladeshi street children.
