The cyber tribunal has ordered to seize the properties of journalist Elias Hossain in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for providing and disseminating false and untrue information regarding the Mitu murder case. Zulfikar Hayat, the judge of the Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka gave this order on Thursday (August 31). At the same time, he fixed October 2 as the date for submitting the report regarding the seize belonging to journalist Elias.

Bench assistant of the relevant tribunal. Jewel Mia confirmed this.

Earlier, on July 25, the same tribunal accepted the charge sheet of the case and issued an arrest warrant against Elias. He also fixed today (August 31) as the date for filing the Tamil report regarding the arrest. That day Mitu's husband former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akhtar and his father Md. Abdul Wadud Miah ahd been released by The court.

On the other hand, against the brother of journalist Elias Hossain and Babul Akhtar’s elder brother Habibur Rahman Labu the charge sheet is being accepted by the court.

Earlier on April 9 the investigation officer of the case and Police Inspector (Operation) of Dhanmondi Model Police Station Rabiul Islam filed a charge sheet against Babul Akhtar and Elias Hossain along with 4 people in the court. The other two accused in the charge sheet are Babul Akhter's brother Md. Habibur Rahman Labu and father Md. Abdul Wadud Mia. As Elias Hossain is absconding among the accused, the investigating officer requested to issue an arrest warrant against him.

Later on May 11, the Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka ordered the transfer of the case to the cyber tribunal of Dhaka-Ashek Imam's court.

Chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Banaj Kumar Majumder filed a case as a plaintiff at Dhanmondi police station in the capital on September 27 last year. The case is charged under the Digital Security Act and the Special Powers Act.

The PBI chief complained in the statement of the case that former SP Babul Akhtar was revealed as the main accused during the investigation of the country's sensational Mitu murder case in the PBI under my leadership. He was arrested during the investigation. Babul Akhtar, who is in jail, and journalist Elias who is staying abroad, and the rest of the accused took refuge in a conspiracy to divert the investigation of the case to different sectors and undermine the image of the police.

In continuation of this on the direct and indirect instigation of Babul Akhtar and other accused, journalist Elias Hossain uploaded a documentary video clip titled 'Wife killed husband in jail, murderer got responsibility of investigation' through his Facebook ID on September 3, 2022. About which I came to know on September 4.

He complained and said that through various false and baseless information in the video, the investigation of the Mitu murder case under investigation is being disputed and questioned and the investigation is being diverted to different sectors. A review of the video shows that the speech of Elias Hossain in the video incites to destroy the image and the communal harmony of the country. Besides, the video has spread false, fabricated, baseless and misleading information to defame the Police and the Special Investigation Agency of the Police, PBI and especially me. For which it creates a negative attitude among the common people of the country.

The PBI chief said in a statement that the video was an attempt to damage the image of the state and friendly relations with India the which state is Bangladesh's friend. Besides, attempts have been made to create enmity, hatred, communal harmony and unrest to create chaos between the Hindu and Muslim communities of the state.

In the declaration, Banaj Kumar presented various evidences and facts through which he claimed that the documentary video was entirely false.
