Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first section of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway today, Saturday (September 2nd), at 3:29 PM. She made the announcement of the dream journey by waving from the stage of the inauguration ceremony at the airport area. She then participated in a special prayer session. At the end of the prayer, the Prime Minister was briefed on various aspects of the project by the officials of Dhaka Elevated Expressway.

With the launch of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, the city of Dhaka enters a new era of convenient transportation. This highway, with a maximum speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour on the main road and 40 kilometers per hour on the ramps, is expected to reduce the commuting time from Kawla in the south to Farmgate to just 10 to 15 minutes.

To travel on the Elevated Expressway, tolls have been categorized based on four vehicle types:

Car, taxi, jeep, sports utility vehicle, microbus (less than 16 seats), and light trucks (less than three tons): Toll fee starts at BDT 80.

All types of buses (16 seats or more): Toll fee starts at BDT 160.

Medium-sized trucks (up to six wheels): Toll fee is BDT 320.

Large trucks (more than six wheels): Toll fee is BDT 400.

The Elevated Expressway also features designated entry and exit points for vehicles traveling in different directions. These entry and exit points include locations such as Kawla in the south, Banani Kamal Ataturk Avenue, Mahakhali Bus Terminal, and Farmgate.

Notably, two and three-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians are strictly prohibited from using the Elevated Expressway. Photography and any form of parking on the expressway are also prohibited.

The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is a significant development for the city, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and improve overall transportation efficiency.
