3 Killed in Road Accident on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

Three people were killed when a bus hit the back of a truck standing on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj's Sirajdikhan. At least 12 bus passengers were injured. Eight people have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

The accident took place on the flyover in the Ramer Khola area on the expressway at around 4 a.m. today, Wednesday (September 6).

Three passengers died on the spot in the accident. One of them is Hasina Begum (42). The identities of the other two were not immediately known. Injured: Lovelu (55), son of deceased Abdul Baten Mia of Chittagong, son of deceased Azhar Uddin Talukdar of Patuakhali. Monirul Islam (46), son of deceased Abu Sattar Jamaddar. At least 12 people including Zahirul Islam (48), and Badu Fakir Mia's son Mofizul Islam (42).

According to the sources of Hasara Highway Police and Sirajdikhan Police Station, a passenger bus from Labiba Paribahan was going to Dhaka from Kuakata. A cargo truck was standing on the flyover at the Ramer Khola area of the expressway. Pushing him, the bus lost control, hit the railing of the expressway, and overturned.

Hasara Highway Police Station OC Kanchan Kumar Singh told the media that the bus and truck are in police custody. The injured have been sent to different hospitals in Dhaka for treatment.
