Criticizing the BNP, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that during Zia and the BNP, Hindus were repeatedly tortured. She said that Ziaur Rahman had ruined non-communal Bangladesh after coming to power. The BNP oppressed minorities while in power. It has been possible to bring back the liberation war and non-communal spirit because of the opportunity to serve the country by voting.

He said this while exchanging greetings with religious leaders of the Sanatan community on the occasion of the auspicious Janmashtami at Ganabhaban today (September 7).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said to the Hindu community, Don't think of yourself as a minority. There is no such thing as a minority or majority here. Those born in this country, irrespective of their religion, are not minorities.

Wishing and congratulating Janmashtami, the Prime Minister said, that the ground of Gana Bhavan has been blessed today. All those who are born on the soil of this country are children and citizens of this country. Your right is on this land. Why do minorities say themselves?

She said, We do not serve by looking at who is in the Jatiya Party, who is in the BNP, who is in the Awami League, who is Hindu, who is Muslim, and who is Christian. All blood is red. In the war of liberation, everyone's blood has mixed in one stream. So this country belongs to everyone.

Sheikh Hasina said that now there is no religious discrimination. Evaluation is done on merit, no religious considerations here. Bangladesh is a secular country. People of all religions will follow their religion here. Everyone's religion, everyone's festival. People of all religions want to participate in the festival together.

In all cases, there are some self-interested people who want to create some problems, the Prime Minister said, and there are some people inside the country who even go abroad and defame the country. I urge everyone to be careful in this regard.

She said that people of all religions will live with equal opportunities and rights in an independent, sovereign Bangladesh. Because we believe in peace.

Sheikh Hasina said Shri Krishna appeared to nurture the discipline of the suppression of evil. The Prime Minister was urged to implement that education. She said, the message of all religions is the same. The language may vary.
