Shahbagh Police Station's OC Withdrawn

Police Inspector (Operation) Golam Mustafa of Shahbagh Police Station has been withdrawn in connection with the torture of two BCL leaders. He has been transferred from Shahbagh Police Station to DMP's Central Reserve Office-LINEOR.

This transfer was done in an office order signed by DMP Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq on Monday (September 11).

Police Inspector Md Arshad Hossain of DB-Gulshan Division has been appointed as the new Inspector (Operation) at Shahbagh Police Station.

It is known that the two BCL leaders were taken to Inspector of Police (Operations) Golam Mostafar's room and tortured.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Haroon Or Rashid, who was transferred from the Ramna division of the police, was temporarily suspended in connection with the beating of two central leaders of the Chhatra League at the police station. In the notice of suspension of ADC Harun, it is said that it is necessary and expedient to prevent Harun or Rashid from public work in the public interest. He was suspended from government service with effect from September 11 (2023) as per the provisions of the Public Service Act.

The notification further states that ADC Harun, on suspension, will remain attached to the police department and will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules. This order was issued in the public interest.

It is to be noted that on the night of September 9, Central Chhatra League Science Affairs Secretary and DHAB Shahidullah Hall General Secretary Sharif Ahmed Munim and Central Organizing Secretary and Fazlul Haque Hall President Anwar Hossain Naim were tortured by DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Harun Or Rashid.
