Dr. AK Abdul Momen, the Foreign Minister, expressed his satisfaction with recent discussions with United States leaders, emphasizing their commitment to combating terrorism. He credited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's unwavering anti-terrorism stance for Bangladesh's absence of casualties from terrorist incidents like bombings and grenade attacks. Dr. Momen made these remarks on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

The Foreign Minister also conveyed his condolences for the 9/11 tragedy, where 2,988 innocent lives were lost, including six Bangladeshis, and expressed hope that such a devastating event would not occur again.

The ninth security dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States, which took place in Dhaka on September 5, saw the United States promising to support Bangladesh in providing humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees. Additionally, both countries agreed to strengthen their civil and military security cooperation.

During the dialogue, discussions covered various conventional and non-conventional security matters within the Indo-Pacific framework of mutual interest. Topics included upcoming national elections, security collaboration, defense trade, countering terrorism and extremism, cross-border crime, and broader regional security issues. Non-conventional security concerns like climate change, energy security, and transnational crime were also addressed.
