Election Commission Isn't a Coward: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has alleged that people are being misled about the Election Commission. He said that the Election Commission is not so cowardly or unethical.

He said this in the opening speech of the meeting with the dignitaries in the conference room of the Agargaon election building on Wednesday (September 13) morning.

Ahead of the 12th parliamentary elections, the Election Commission took the initiative to listen to suggestions from prominent people of the country.

The commission has invited 28 people, including former bureaucrats, senior journalists, and people working on elections.

Addressing the guests who participated in the event, CEC said, 'Those whom we have invited are not involved in politics. You are intellectual. That's why we want to know the people's expectations and your experience and opinions about the election. It will be easier for us to understand if you discuss it academically.

The Chief Election Commissioner said, "We want to look ahead. I want to know about the expectations and realities of the people regarding the 12th Parliament elections.

EC officials said, eight negotiators and 20 guests have been invited to the meeting titled 'Twelfth National Parliament Elections: Expectations and Reality'.

At the beginning of the program, Election Commissioner Ahsan Habib Khan said that the commission is working on the next election. Respected voters in the country, ordinary citizens, media workers, voters living abroad, and expatriates are interested in this election.

Besides, donor organizations, friendly countries have great interest. So today's arrangement is to listen to suggestions from you on how to conduct the elections expected by the people.
