A massive blaze erupted at Mohammadpur Krishi market in the capital city after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Seventeen fire service units are currently engaged in efforts to contain the inferno.
According to Anwarul Islam Dolan, the Fire Service Media Cell Officer, they were alerted about the Mohammadpur Krishi Market fire at 3:43 p.m. yesterday. Initially, 11 fire service units rushed to the location to initiate firefighting operations, and later, two additional units joined their efforts.
By around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, four more fire service units were enlisted to combat the blaze. Despite three hours of relentless work, the fire remained uncontrolled.
The origin of the fire remains unknown, as per statements from the fire service.
Additionally, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that special teams from the Army, Navy, and Air Force have joined forces with the fire service to manage the fire at Mohammadpur Krishi Market.
Furthermore, as of the time of writing this report, five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) soldiers are actively engaged in firefighting, and an army helicopter is also assisting in fire suppression. Numerous local residents have gathered at the scene, with many actively participating in efforts to extinguish the fire.
