Krishi Market Fire Brought Under Control

After a long five-and-a-half-hour effort, the fire at the capital's Mohammadpur Krishi Market has been brought under control. The fire was brought under control at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (September 14).

The Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense (Operation and Maintenance), Lt. Col. Tajul Islam Chowdhury, confirmed this to the media. At a press conference around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, he said that the fire incident is being investigated.

Earlier, a fire broke out in the Mohammadpur Krishi Market around 4:30 a.m. 17 units of the fire service worked to control the fire.

Apart from gold shops, the market also had cloth, plastic goods, crockery, and bag shops. Businessmen have lost everything.

Members of the RAB, Police, BGB, and Armed Forces are assisting the fire service in controlling the fire. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced this information in a press release on Thursday (September 14)) morning.

The fire service received the news of the fire at quarter past four last night. After that, fire service vehicles from Mohammadpur, Hazaribagh, Kalyanpur, and the head office went and started extinguishing the fire.

Locals said that several areas of the tin shed part of the market were burned. The sound of an AC explosion was heard after a while. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Apart from this, no casualties have been reported so far.
